At HeadWay Clinic, we have been Counselling Sudbury for over 10 years. We work hard to help you Get Your Life Back. You are our ideal client if you want to learn about yourself because you feel the need to change something in your life. That change can be in your relationships with friends, family or your spouse. Or you want to change something inside of yourself. For example, you may feel you need to improve your self-esteem. Or, maybe you need help in getting rid of those vague feelings of guilt you’ve had forever. We can help with that, and more!
Working with a counsellor
At your first appointment, you and your counsellor will talk about what is bothering you and how we can help. You will also go over your personal history with you. So be prepared to answer personal questions about your past and your current situation. That way your counsellor can better understand you as a person and the best way to reach your goals. Then the hard work will start. Counselling or psychotherapy is hard because you might talk about difficult things and you will learn stuff about you that you might not know. We will help you and support you through this process and hopefully, you will see the benefits in your life.
What kind of counselling or therapy do you offer?
At HeadWay Clinic, we take an eclectic approach which means we may borrow from many different schools of thought, adapting to the current issues. For example, CBT would likely be the central technique used but it’s possible that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy could also be used to address specific areas of concern for you.

How many sessions of counselling do I need?
For counselling to work well, it is recommended you meet once a week because the process of change most often happens in small steps, over time. There’s a risk that too much would be forgotten between sessions if there was too much time between sessions. On average, you will need 10-12 sessions, sometimes more, sometimes less.
Is the counselling covered by my Insurance?
Counselling at HeadWay is not covered by OHIP but is covered by most insurers, particularly motor vehicle insurance and certain Health Benefits. It is covered by Veterans Affairs (Blue Cross) and by many Employee Assistance Programs. If you are paying out of pocket, you are expected to pay after each session. We take all the major credit cards.
